Welcome

This is the home of Daniel's and Tony's hub for everything related to using Adobe AIR and Flex with Ruby On Rails. We are in the middle (42%) of writing a book on the subject and gave the Powering AIR application with Rails at RailsConf last month and we created quite some example applications that we will host here over the next couple of weeks. Note only will you find running apps but tones of source code and samples.
As of this writing (June 26th) you won't find any content here, just place holders that we will start filling...so stay tunned over the next couple of weeks.

Why Flex with Rails?

First it's not an all or nothing, you can use Flex in your Rails application only where it makes sense. Unless you have a reason to look for another approach than using HTML/JavaScript and CSS, don't look into Flex. But if you start spending lot's of time in JavaScript, if you have to transfer ton's of data, if you have to do some advanced data visualization, if you have to implement some fancy product configurator, if your are creating an admin tool, if your application is geared towards data entry, if you need tighter integration with the desktop... it may be time for you to check out Flex and AIR.
